Don't forget. Brooklyn Museum's borough-wide open studio weekend starts tomorrow! On September 8th and 9th, more than 1800 artists across 46 neighborhoods in Brooklyn will open their studios to share their work from 11am to 7pm.
The event, which is meant to highlight local artists, is called "GO" and is a community-curated open studio project. Here is how it works. On Saturday and Sunday, artists across Brooklyn will open their studio doors. Community members registered as voters will visit at least five studios and nominate three artists. The ten artists with the most nominations will "receive studio visits from Brooklyn Museum curators. Two or more nominated artists will be chosen by the curators to have their work displayed as part of a Brooklyn Museum group exhibition opening at Target First Saturday on December 1, 2012."
The Neighborhood Coordinator for Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens is Eleanor Weintraub. This week-end, you will find her at at 61 Local on Bergen Street, where she will be running the neighborhood information table.
