These photos were taken at 10 AM this morning after the high tide by my friend and Gowanus resident Margaret Maugenest. It is important to note that the next high tide will hit at 8 PM tonight and Hurricane Sandy is still over 200 miles offshore. The storm is also supposed to hit this area during a full moon.
And here are some more taken at noon today by Marlene Donnelly of Friends And Residents Of Greater Gowanus.
She said she ran into a policeman from the 76th Precinct who said that the water is expected to cross
Bond Street later tonight.
At First Street at the edge of the Gowanus (where Lightstone Group want to build 700 units of housing
At Sackett Street and Gowanus at around noon today
Not much homeowners can do. Sand bands are a bit useless. Look at the preparations taken at the Green building at the corner of Union Street and Bond Street.
